Visio Divina or 'Divine Seeing'

Praying Through Art

Join us for an evening of light refreshments, wine, art activity, images, conversation and prayer.

Our modern world is filled to exhaustion with images - we are bombarded daily with hundreds, if not thousands, and most of them we simply pass by with no thought.  This mini-retreat is an opportunity to rest our eyes and our spirit by seeking peace and solace in images that lead our thoughts to the majesty and mercy of our God.

Visio Divina is an invitation to wonder as we enter a contemplative conversation with God through our sense of sight.  Visio Divina encourages our eyes to 'fly' to see Christ and our Creator illuminated in various forms of art or images.  Visio Divina follows the basic pattern of Lectio Divina, where we read respond, reflect and rest.  In Visio Divina, art is the key to opening the 'eyes of our hearts' to see the Trinity and all creation - gazing, responding, reflecting and resting.
